•      A scrubber or a knockout drum is a device used to separate liquid particles from the gas flow where the ratio of gas to liquid is high. Knockout Drum is often without internal equipment for separation, and the separation in these tanks is done by gravity settling, but in scrubbers, some equipment such as warmish or vane is used for separation. Liquid particles often move in the form of fog along with the gas flow inside pipelines, and it is necessary to be separated from the gas stream, before entering the gas regulating or compression station and equipment such as compressors and control valves. Scrubbers usually have a section for collecting liquids. This section has a level indicator (Level Gauge) to show operators' accumulation rate of liquid and solid impurities and assist them in the on-time discharge of the holding chamber. It is important to note that if the storage chamber of liquids and impurities is not designed correctly, some portions of the gas flowing through the scrubber may enter the accumulating chamber and the separated impurities may return to the gas stream. To ensure that this does not happen, perforated plates can be used at the top of the chamber. Scrubbers are equipped with a manhole and a ladder because of their dimensions, to make inspection and maintenance easier.
  • The gas stream at entry, faces an inlet device

and this section is part of the separation process. This equipment can be of various types such as Schoepentoeter, half pipe, and deflective plate, and in addition to initial separation, it helps to distribute the flow appropriately in the vessel. The gas flowing is directed to the top and towards the solid separation unit. Solid separators can be of different types such as vane, cyclone, or wire mesh. The dustless gas comes out from the top of the vessel. In multi-stage scrubbers, several different mechanisms are used for separation, which allows for the separation of particles with small dimensions.

Apadana Petro Farayand Company has a knowledge-based certificate in the field of multi-stage scrubbers and is capable of designing, manufacturing، installating, and commissioning all types of scrubbers in a variety of sizes and classes

    Uses:

    • Purification of incoming gas into petrochemical plants, power plants, and industrial plants
    • Purification of gas turbine feed
    • Purification of gas inlet through gas compression stations
